Fiona MacGregor

Experienced Clinical Psychologist Specializing in Grief, Adolescents, Relationships, and Hypnotherapy

Fiona’s qualifications are a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Psychology with honours from Macquarie University.

In addition to her academic qualifications, Fiona possesses specific training and experience working with adolescents and with grief and bereavement. She has been practicing as a Clinical Psychologist for 13 years, prior to which she spent a number of years as a hospital-based counsellor working with depression, anxiety and addictions.

Fiona’s areas of expertise and interest include grief and bereavement, adjustment to life events, challenges, and change; relationship issues such as relationships with partners, friends, colleagues, or family; parenting issues; adolescent issues; drug and alcohol problems; depression and other mood difficulties; stress management and life balance; and anxiety and anxiety disorders.

Another area of interest and specialist training for Fiona is hypnotherapy. Fiona belongs to the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists, has completed training as a hypnotherapist at the Australian Society of Hypnosis, and has worked as hypnotherapist for a number of years. Fiona offers hypnosis for a range of issues such as changing habits, relaxation, sleep, pain, stress management, and general wellbeing. As a clinical psychologist she is well qualified to use hypnosis appropriately, in the context of a broader and comprehensive therapeutic approach. This means that she can assess whether hypnosis is warranted for a particular person or issue, and can advise on helpful combinations of hypnosis and other therapies.

Fiona is an insightful and supportive therapist, skilled at adapting her therapeutic approach to each individual’s needs and objectives. In addition to her work as a therapist, she has conducted honours and masters level research aimed at better understanding physical and biological aspects of psychological processes, particularly neurotransmitter pathways in the brain.

Fiona is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, and is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists. She is also a member of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy, and the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists.
